The team behind the brand & viral movement, Black Men Deserve to Grow Old, wants to officially send condolences to the family & friends of Tyre Nichols. We extend our help, support, and platforms to help spread awareness against violence (especially among Black Men). As we approach, Black History Month, we want to encourage our youth and elders to join one another and challenge systems that keep us at a disadvantage.
The founder, Mia Jaye, had created a viral brand dedicated to fighting police brutality and Black-on-Black crime. As the fiancee of the late rapper, Young Dolph, who’s a fellow Memphis native, this hit home for her company. BMDTGO was started as a way for Mia to honor and memorialize what started out as just her brother but resulted in her honoring her fiancé and the father of her children.
It breaks my heart to hear about another Black man’s death being publicized, leaving the world to leave its commentary, judgment, and BLAME… leaving behind a fatherless child, forced to find their way in this cold world…
– Mia Jaye
As thousands of Memphis residents attended Tyre’s funeral, we couldn’t help but ask ourselves, have we done enough? Have we taken individual responsibility to protect our black fathers, spouses, brothers, and children, especially from one another? Our mission is to create fashionable streetwear apparel and donate proceeds from every sale to our BMDTGO Cares Fund. The fund helps individual families impacted by intraracial violence crimes and to amplify the voices of grassroot organizations that align with our objectives. When you think of BMTGO, think of clothing that sparks change. To support us follow us online or make a purchase at www.blackmendeservetogrowold.com.
