Bria Danielle Singleton is not only Hollywood’s next upcoming star, she is definitely a young force to be reckoned with and a triple threat. The talented young beauty has been making a name for herself following her work Netflix’s hit superhero comedy “Thunder Force” with Octavia Spencer and Melissa McCarthy. She is set to star in the highly anticipated Whitney Houston Biopic, “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” as her daughter Bobbi Kristina.
Bria recently sat down with Sheen Magazine to talk about her new role in the film and more.
Sheen Magazine: Congratulations on your new role in the upcoming Whitney Houston Movie starring as her daughter Bobbi Kristina. That’s exciting. Tell us a bit about how you prepared for that role.
Bria Danielle Singleton: Preparing was so much different than a regular thing because with other characters can you add onto things and you can always make it your own, but this is someone that I wanted to respect and I wanted to portray correctly. There are so many people that knew Bobby and Whitney. I wanted feedback that I captured her and her energy well. So much research was trying to find content of just Bobbi being herself. I wanted it to be like when the cameras are off, just her authentic self. A lot of playing videos, articles and personal things about her.
Sheen Magazine: You have been acting for quite some time and had to audition for many roles. What is the most embarrassing or funny thing that has happened during an audition?
Bria Danielle Singleton: It happened a lot during Zoom auditions because when covid happened it was a lot of auditioning on Zoom or just recording, so a lot of times during Zoom you will be put in a waiting room and I would always get caught doing something or just not fully prepared and I would be like “Oh my gosh, they’ve been watching me this whole time”. Or like I would let one of my cats in and I would be like “They will be quiet it’s fine” and then they’d just start screaming throughout the Zoom session and I’m like “Oh my gosh I can not get this cat to shut up,” It’s just a lot of that.
Sheen Magazine: What advice would you give to a young girl who is interested in pursuing a career in acting and entertainment?
Bria Danielle Singleton: I would say patience because just having patience with yourself in the process. It’s just a lot of patience waiting to get that role that’s going to help you move up or waiting to even get a call back. It’s going to be back to back where you are auditioning, auditioning and you don’t hear anything back. You just have to have that patience, there is a reason why you’re doing this, always remember your reason, this is what I want to do in life, this is what I love, I am committed. You gotta keep that commitment because if you lose that, then why are you doing it? It is just commitment and patience, focus on that. That’s really important, it keeps your head in the game.
Sheen Magazine: What is something you enjoy that the average person may not know?
Bria Danielle Singleton: I really enjoy reading! I got my Barnes and Noble membership back. I ordered a Kindle. I have been back on my reading grind. I forgot how fun it is because I have been so busy. When I have moments to sit down at night and pull out my book and read when it’s quiet in the house, that’s such a special time for me. I was missing out, I feel like I have been missing out on this for so long. Reading is so fun for me.
Sheen Magazine: You look amazing! Tell us about your beauty, self and hair care regimen.
Bria Danielle Singleton: I have learned to love protective hairstyles a lot because I had heat damage. It had gotten to the point I didn’t know what to do with my hair. Taking the time to do the research to find out what’s going to work for me specifically, because there are so many things to where you oh I saw this product work and this works really well, but you need to find out what works for you. It’s definitely a process of finding the right products. I love Miele, the hair brand, their pomegranate and honey brand. My hair loves that. Especially with skin I just started getting my routine together again for products that work for me because it was like I wanted a moisturizer and just called it a day. There was a photo of a woman who never put sunscreen on her neck and just showed the difference of what it looks like. I was like I don’t use sunscreen at all, it really awoken me. I was like “Oh my gosh I’m not really taking care of my skin”. It does take time again with patience, it’s definitely time to figure out what works but it’s worth it in the end. Hair masks and trims, people don’t trim a lot and I feel like it’s important to get hair care.
Sheen Magazine: Tell us a bit about what we can look forward to from you for this upcoming year.
Bria Danielle Singleton: I have a lot of visions for myself. Just like things and projects that I would pursue. I feel like I lean a lot more towards dramatic roles and that’s where I feel like I am the strongest. Yes, very much more dramatic, I would love to do Marvel. That’s always been a big dream of mine.
