In his Masterclass, Che Pope discusses his work with Lauryn Hill on “To Zion,” The Game on “Higher,” and Kanye West on “Bound 2.” For “To Zion,” Che Pope details his process with Hill and fellow producer James Poyser.
“Out of all the songs I’ve done throughout my career, this is one that I would say I probably have the most emotional connection to because when I played her the idea, she actually teared up,” Che Pope says of Hill in his masterclass, which includes 14 chapters and includes the art of making a melody and tips for new producers. “At first, I was a little apprehensive.”
Veteran music executive Steve Lobel, who has worked with everyone from Run-DMC to Bone thugs-n-harmony, explains what it was like meeting Nipsey Hussle and launching the Los Angeles rapper’s career.
“There was something about him that I loved about him,” recalls Lobel, who also details getting Nipsey Hussle on a promotional tour with The Game in his 26-chapter Masterclass, which also includes stories about managing Fat Joe, contracts, and music rights.
It’s that type of behind-the-scenes insight and information that makes Aulart’s hip-hop series must-watch programming from aspiring beatmakers and die-hard hip-hop fans alike. Aulart membership also includes premium software for hip-hop producers, including Native Instruments’ 40s Very Own Drums and Gainstation 2, from Drake’s primary producer Noah “40” Shebib and iconic producer Mike Dean, respectively.

Aulart’s instructors also bridge classic cuts with newer material. WhyJay & LiTek, for instance, was produced Central Cee’s worldwide hit “Doja,” which boasts more than 142 million streams. “Doja” samples Eve’s smash single “Let Me Blow Ya Mind,” which was released in 2001, features Gwen Stefani, and was produced by Aulart Masterclass’ Scott Storch.
