Brittney Griner, an American Basketball player, has been sentenced to nine years in prison after being convicted of drug smuggling and possession. In February, Griner was arrested in a Moscow airport by Russian officers on cannabis possession charges. She was accused of smuggling one gram of cannabis oil which is illegal in the country. Griner insisted she never used marijuana in Russia, but did admit to accidentally packing vape cartridges with cannabis oil.
