Fashion model Don Loum talks to Sheen Magazine about his journey in the fashion industry.
Becoming a model played a significant role in Loum’s life by giving him confidence in his skin. Loum wants fans to know that beauty comes in all different forms regardless of what the world may say or your past entails. He shares, “We’re all unique, beautiful, and wonderfully made by God.” We here at Sheen are delighted to share Don’s journey of following his dreams and self-acceptance.
How did you get your start in modeling?
I got into modeling after modeling for a family friend. Later on, I was discovered by an amazing creative with such an amazing eye/ mind for art and creativity, Ryan Doerr.
What inspired you to pursue a career in fashion?
The inspiration comes from the freedom and limitless possibilities correlated with fashion. Fashion is always changing, growing, and advancing. We’re made to grow in life, and I believe fashion is an area where we can grow and express ourselves without even saying a word.
What are you most proud of accomplishing in your career so far?
It’s really hard to say I’m proud of just one accomplishment, but I was extremely happy being published for the first time. Nothing beats hearing that you’ll be published in a magazine for the first time. Ryan Doerr (@keysopendoerrs) wonderfully did the photography, and I was styled so incredibly well by Tosha Hartzog (@toshastyledit). Everyone’s talent came together in such an amazing way. It was truly amazing to be a part of that project.
When you’re not working, what do you like to do in your free time to relax?
When I’m not working, I love hanging with friends and playing soccer. I was able to compete in my first two years of college, so whenever I get the chance, I love getting a game in with friends.
How would you describe your style?
I would describe my style as simple yet loud. I’m a huge fan of messing around with my style as well. One day I could be wearing a regular hoodie, and the next day something unexpected.
What else can you see yourself doing in the entertainment industry?
Acting’s definitely something that I’ve considered and want to pursue. I’ve always loved acting and the history behind it. I can’t make the call, but if the opportunity presented itself, I would definitely like to see where I could go in that area of the industry.
Are there any new collaborations/work we can look forward to?
This year I’m really looking forward to showing the world a lot of new content that I’ve been involved in. I’d say keep an eye out on my social media for some amazing work.
