You can’t have a conversation about today’s era of hip-hop without mentioning Cordae. Hailing from Maryland, real name Cordae Amari Dunston, he has proven himself repeatedly as one of the most well-respected lyricists of our time, bringing back that essence of hip-hop that’s been engraved in the culture since the ’90s.
Now, the superstar unleashes his newest, highly anticipated album titled From a Bird’s Eye View, which he informs his fans is a must-listen from top to bottom all the way through. And what better way to celebrate than to host an intimate album release event/listening at the Peppermint Club in Los Angeles, hosted by the one and only Dave Chapelle.
Reeling in one of the greatest comedians to ever do it is just one example of Cordae’s ascent to the top. While attendees weren’t allowed to bring in their phones, everyone was ecstatic to be in a room with both Dave Chapelle and Cordae, celebrating the release of the project that he’s been working so hard to perfect. Chapelle was rocking a Wu-Tang shirt, flying in all the way from Ohio.
The 14-track project serves as the follow-up to his 2019 debut titled, The Lost Boy, which earned Cordae 2 Grammy nominations. From A Bird’s Eye View hails guest appearances from Gunna, Lil Wayne, Lil Durk, H.E.R., Freddie Gibbs, Stevie Wonder, and Eminem.
