Pretty Girls Love Toosii! Also, the name of Toosii’s most recent release: a capsule of 3 songs that serves as a gift to his fans. Born in Syracuse, New York, but moved to Raleigh, North Carolina, in 2017. The R&B phenom has since catapulted to the forefront of the rap game, creating meaningful, heartfelt ballads for audiences worldwide.
His 2020 single, “Love Cycle,” quickly took over the internet and social media, reminding females that true love does exist — inspired by his relationship with his girlfriend he adores. Soon after, the song received a standout remix from the one and only Summer Walker, taking Toosii’s career to even greater heights.
Boasting 3.7 million followers on Instagram alone, Toosii continues to shut down stages all across the world, going from opening for DaBaby to selling out his own first headlining tour.
And still, it’s his standout voice and unique sound that keep music lovers coming back for more.
Sheen Magazine caught up with Toosii at Rolling Loud in Los Angeles moments after he shut down the stage. Read below as we discuss his new capsule, being a basketball fan, love for Chrome Hearts, forthcoming album, teasing a song with Young Thug, and more!
The last time we spoke, you hadn’t released Pretty Girls Love Toosii yet. But it’s out now, 3 songs!
That’s all that was needed. I feel like 3 songs were good; they’re asking for more songs. But I just wanted to put out 3 songs that’ll hold them over.
Until the project! Can you say the name yet?
No, I can’t tell them the name yet. You are trying to get me in trouble. [laughs]
You just dropped the “Shallow” video. What inspired that song? I know your girl inspires your songs.
Fasho. Really with “Shallow,” it was another day in the studio. Another song, it wasn’t nothing special. That was some everyday studio-type sh-t.
How much are you dropping on Chrome Hearts?
Man listen, I won’t lie. I spend a lot at Chrome Hearts. I just saw Lil Meech post a Chrome Hearts duffel bag. I looked it up. It was like $6000. I’m a buy that. I like it.
Do you treat yourself?
Yeah, sometimes. Not often, sometimes. I spend more money on others than I do myself.
What is your go-to meal before you perform?
Man, I don’t like to eat before I perform [laughs]. So I might eat something light, like a fruit snack. That’s it.
Do you have any pre-game rituals before you perform?
Prayer. I pray before every show.
How’s Rolling Loud Los Angeles?
It’s cold. I ain’t tryna get sick.
What’re you most excited about next?
Shoot some music videos and work on my album. I’m working on my album right now, so that’s what I’m most excited about.
Can you talk about how fire that song you have with Future is?
It’s fire! Fasho, it’s fire. It’s coming soon. I posted a snippet today with Young Thug.
How are the fans reacting?
I haven’t looked at it. I put it out on Instagram, but it’s nice.
Anything else you want to let us know?
Pretty Girls Love Toosii is out now. It’s the biggest, the biggest one out!
