Eli is a Haitian American author, researcher, and academic who is active in behavioral finance, data analytics, statistics, and quantitative finance. Currently a partner and medical examiner at Quest Diagnostics, Eli also serves as a faculty member at the Columbia University of Professional Studies and Queens College, City University of New York.
But it has been anything but easy to get to where he is today. In 2015, Eli Joseph obtained a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Queens College, City University of New York and, in 2016, he completed his master’s degree in Business Administration from Brooklyn College and then went on to complete his Doctorate in Business Administration from Felician University. He became the first-ever graduate to complete the curriculum at the age of 24. From 2012 to 2016 when he finally completed his Ph.D., Eli Joseph had been rejected from 10 other schools and courses.
He began his teaching career at Marymount Manhattan College in 2017. In the fall of that year, Eli then went on to teach at Queen’s College. Shortly after, Eli continued his search for more knowledge, to keep on his path towards education. While entering the last year of his doctoral program, Joseph started teaching at Columbia University in 2018 after completing an online certificate program at the Harvard Business School.
But the most interesting thing about Eli Joseph is just how many times he has been rejected. Yet each time he has got back up, again and again, to work towards his goals and success. From 2014 to 2019, Eli submitted a total of 853 applications to various jobs and companies including the Boston Consultancy Group, JP Morgan Chase & Co, Morgan Stanley, and Goldman Sachs to name a few. But he has never let these rejections get him down for long and he continues to strive towards his goals, and this is what his new book will be about which is scheduled for release in 2022.
As a former TEDx speaker, a former dual athlete (track and field and basketball), Eli Joseph’s story will inspire so many. Currently, he is a member of TED, the Grammy Recording Academy, and Forbes The Culture, and there is no stopping him anytime soon.
