It was recently reported that tennis champions and sisters, Serena and Venus Williams have withdrawn from the 2021 U.S. Open. It was revealed that Serena injured her right leg during the first set of her first-round match at Wimbledon in June.
The two took it to social media to share the news.
Not the best news everyone. I am joining @serenawilliams @RafaelNadal and @rogerfederer on the injured list. It’s still going to be a great US Open & many thanks to the @usta for the wild card. I was so looking forward to it, but it was not meant to be this year. I will be back! pic.twitter.com/s0PRgdSSx2

The tournament will be taking place on Monday, August 30th to September 12th in Meadows, Queens.
Sister, Venus announced her withdrawal 10 hours after Serena.
This will mark the first time the sisters do not participate in the last Grand Slam tournament of the year since 2003!
Serena and Venus Williams, you both are always winners in our book!
