Becca McCharen-Tran, Miami-based designer and creative director of Chromat, presented her swimwear collection during Miami Swim Week 2021, at The Ritz Carlton in South Beach. Ms. McCharen-Tran, a graduate of architecture, designs in New York and Miami. Chromat designer’s concern of waste and plastics in the environment led her to utilize sustainable fabric which allows the swimsuits to be recycled. The nylon mill removes fishing nets from the ocean, recycles them into usable fabric, and is ultimately designed to allow continuous recycling of the garment. The company also decided to cut out the middle man, retailers, in order to make their price points more affordable for their #CHROMATBABES. Chromat consistently includes African American, plus size, and transgender models on the runways and campaigns. Ms. McCharen-Tran was one of the few designers to use plus-size models in her New York Fashion Week shows. The lovely Carmen Carrera, model and activist, and Denise Palsha, Vogue CS Contributing Fashion Editor, were also on the scene to support Chromat. Chromat swimwear features ethically made fabrics from Italy, France, and the U.S. in sizes XS to 4X and is created in fair wage factories in the U.S. and Europe. A Chromat swimsuit is a win for the environment and for social inclusion. Visit www.Chromat.co to see the latest collection.
