HBCU Howard University is celebrating and highlighting their famous alum earlier this month, Howard named actor and alum Phylicia Rashad as the dean of the fine arts school.

This was just the beginning to what was to come. According to the Washington Post the reestablished College of Fine Arts will be name after Black Panther actor, Chadwick Boseman who died last August at the age 43.

This is a proud moment for Boseman’s family and friends. The actor was a proud Howard alum and was the university’s commencement speaker in 2018.

Boseman shared, “Purpose is an essential element of you. It is the reason you are on the planet at this particular time in history.”

In a statement published via social media, Boseman’s family said: “Chad, you exemplify Howard’s core values of excellence, leadership, service, and truth. There is no one more deserving of such an honor.”
