Famously private singer, D’Angelo set the internet on fire Saturday night. He competed against himself in a highly anticipated Verzuz series in a banging fur coat, suede boots, and a wide brim hat. Lookin’ “real funky” according to one of the many viewers. It’s safe to say he was the first and likely the only artist to enter the friendly competition solo. He opened the show with a melody of songs from Brown Sugar, his 1995 platinum album.
Though he performed alone, D’Angelo surprised us with performances by Method Man and Redman and beautiful duet with H.E.R. I don’t want to give it all away so if you haven’t seen it…check out the Verzuz Instagram page for more.
