On Saturday afternoon, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced that baby Archie will soon be a big brother. A spokesperson for Meghan and Harry confirmed in a Valentine’s Day tweet. “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child.” The happy news comes after Meghan revealed, in a moving essay published by the New York Times, that she’d suffered a miscarriage last July. “After changing his diaper, I felt a sharp cramp. I dropped to the floor with him in my arms, humming a lullaby to keep us both calm, the cheerful tune a stark contrast to my sense that something was not right,” she recalled. “I knew, as I clutched my firstborn child, that I was losing my second.”
In honor of the happy news, a photo was released with the couple relaxing under the trees. A barefoot Harry cradles her head while Meghan rests her hand on a beautiful round belly.
