Destiny Payton-Williams isn’t waiting for anyone to give her a seat at the table because she’s to busy creating her own. With research, hard work, passion and drive, Destiny opened the 1st Black Owned Beauty Supply Store in Huntsville Al. MaDonni Beauty Supply, is your one-stop shop for all things beauty, and more…. Check out the exclusive interview with Destiny below…
What is your “backstory” and what made you get in the Beauty Supply industry?
My previous partner and I had a provisional patent on a hair product we were shopping around to distributors who weren’t very receptive to us, yet they loved the product. I then suggested that we go to the beauty supply stores in Atlanta (where I was living at the time) to shop the product ourselves. Upon doing so I realized that there was one black owned store in the entire city. This prompted me to do research on how many beauty supply stores were in the US. Upon doing so I was amazed at how few there were with African Americans contributing so much to this billion dollar industry. I was quickly inspired to find out to have my own store.
Coming from a extremely successful career in real-estate to now a owner of the 1st Black Owned Beauty Supply Store in Huntsville AL., what knowledge from your previous career transferred over to your new career?
The ability to navigate in rooms with a diverse array of people, to hold firm in what I believe in, and to go hard and close the deal.
What do you think makes MaDonni Beauty Supply stand out?
I always wanted my store to represent “All Things Beauty”, not to be subjected to just another beauty supply. I didn’t brand my store with the same look as most stores because my location offers beauty services as well as supplies. We are your one stop shop! For example once our suites are completed you will be able to get your nails & make-up done, buy your bundles or get a yoni steam and non evasive cosmetic services all in one place.
None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful to who helped get you to where you are?
I have to acknowledge God first and foremost.
I can’t just name one person, there have been so many influential people in my life. The first is my Grandmother who was also an entrepreneur, she definitely influenced tremendously. My Aunt Yo, showed me what beauty was as a classy, determined business woman. There are so many women who have “mothered” me along the way like both my GodMother’s. One who was the epitome of grace and elegance and the other of strength and a no-nonsense attitude. Lastly my Dad who has had my back and made sure I was on top of my game no matter what I was doing.
What are your favorite 3 beauty products?
I love my MaDonni Hair care products, that I’ll be launching real soon, Coconut Oil, and Fenty facial products.
What exciting projects are you working on now?
I just launched my E-commerce store, so that customers can have the comfort of shopping for beauty supplies from home. I will be offering consultations to help those who want to get into the beauty supply industry, and my best project yet…my newborn son!
Can you share three things that most excite you about the beauty industry?
The ability to bring all that wealth back into the African American communities. Inspiring others to want to build wealth for their families and neighborhoods has become a part of my purpose.
What advice would you give to other businesses owners to help their companies thrive?
Find a way or make one, there’s enough for EVERYONE, and be innovative!

Loved it. Love your drive. I got you.
Great interview! Hello..
I’m all for supporting my people, but this is NOT the first black owned beauty supply store in Huntsville, Al. There’s one located on hwy 53 and she’s been there for a least 2 years. That’s disrespectful to all the hard work that lady has accomplished. People so busy trying to be the “1st” of everything, they don’t realize they looking ignorant doing it. Wow. I will defiantly support though, but be knowledgeable when you make a claim like that.
Thank you Jasmine for clarity otherwise viewers of this reality show like myself would not have known that !
