As a lot of HOMECOMINGS are cancelled what are campus queens supposed to do? To HBCUs Campus Queens are a major part of college life she is the top tier of student leaders. The HBCU Experience brought a few Queens’ together to give their take on being a HBCU Queen and how that shaped them to be the strong black women they are today.
What made you want bring a HBCU Queens Edition book out?
The HBCU Experience Movement, LLC is a collection of stories from Alumni throughout the world sharing how their university has molded them into the people they are today. We are also giving back financially to invest in our HBCUs throughout the country. Our goal is to share black stories and document them. In doing our research we saw there was a need for Queens to share their stories. The goal is to help young women who aspire to be college queens, our younger generation and our current Queens overcome their fears and doubts of what it takes to be HBCU Queen. So, we decided to change the narrative and create The First Ever HBCU Queens Anthology, The HBCU Experience: The HBCU Royal University Queens Edition. A portion of the proceeds will go to Leadership for Queens Non-profit.
Why are HBCU Queens so important to our younger generation of black queens?
HBCU Queens are so important to our younger generation, because they need role models and mentors. Our younger generation need to see black women who are changing the narrative and creating their own opportunities. This gives our young black queens hope, encouragement, and motivation to achieve their goals no matter what.
Did 1 queen stand out more when it came to her story and the work she did as Queen?
All of the HBCU Royal University Queens in this edition have amazing stories. They discuss their successes, failures and they all have in common the willingness to see it through no matter what.
Will you ever take the queens on a book tour?
We have some great things in store for the Queens once COVID-19 is over. The HBCU Experience: The HBCU Royal University Queens Edition will have a virtual book launch on Saturday July 18, 2020@1pmest.
What’s next for the chapter of HBCU Experience?
We are continuing to build the movement and change the narrative. Our goal is to share black stories, invest back in our HBCUs and create opportunities for our younger generation.
