The American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers have just announced that they will be taking their annual awards show online this year due to our current pandemic.
The awards show will hold a three-day virtual event and stream on ASCAP’s official social media channels for its four award shows – focusing on pop, R&B/pop, Latin, and film music.
- The ASCAP Pop Awards will take place on June 17th-June 19th
- The ASCAP Screen Music Awards will take place on June 23rd to June 25th
- The ASCAP Latin Music Awards will take place on July 7th to July 9th
- The ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Awards will take place on July 15th to July 17th.
In an official statement, ASCAP President and Chairman of the board, Paul Williams stated, “Even though we can’t be together ‘in real life’ this time, we are so excited to honor (artists) virtually so that we can all connect and share our collective love of music.”
He added, “We invite music fans everywhere to join us in toasting their music and what their creative work adds to our lives.”
Other award shows that have chosen go to virtually this year include the Daytime Emmy Awards and the BET Awards. ASCAP will honor top songwriters and publishers at the ASCAP Virtual Awards.
Winners will be announced at a later date. Last year’s recipients include Billie Eilish, Finneas, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, Cardi B, and Daddy Yankee.
