News let out Saturday morning of Andre Harrell’s passing but Harrell passed late Thursday night at his home in West Hollywood, California. His ex-wife, Wendy Credle, said that the cause was heart failure and that Mr. Harrell has had heart problems for some time.
News of Harrell’s passing traveled fast and many celebrities and fans around the world took to social media to send out their condolences.

It’s hard to describe how big an imprint Andre Harrell had on music. From his own rap career to his days at Def Jam to Uptown to Motown to Revolt… From Mary J. Blige to Diddy to Heavy D to Jodeci… Andre Harrell was a pioneer and a legend.

Harrell’s was well respected in the music industry by many he started as a rapper in a group called Dr. Jeckyll & Mr. Hyde and later would go on to found Uptown Records, home of Mary J. Blige, Father MC and Jodeci Harrell also infamously fired Sean “Diddy” Combs as we all gotten a chance to see in the 2009 film Notorious B.I.G.
