What’s going on everybody?  We’re all still stuck in the house. How is everybody holding up? I want to start by saying I am proud of you for staying at home and saving lives.  To the essential workers, I send you a great big THANK YOU for keeping the cities moving forward.  For the ones like me stuck at home let’s see how we can make the best of this trying time.

You know I’m going to say something about exercise because that’s just who I am, so let’s just get it out the way.  I have been introduced to this app called TikTok, OMG it’s so fun.  Listen, I know I am late to the party but if you haven’t heard of it, check it out. If you don’t feel like going for a walk or taking that jog to get in that cardio, I strongly suggest you find a dance to learn on Tic Tok.  It’s so fun and you can get your cardio along with a good laugh.  Have fun with it!

Ok, I won’t bring up cardio anymore (in this article). Let’s move on to other work outs.  I like to call it work in, your mental health.  I know for me I have some great days and some not so great days.   So, as you know, as I try to grow in my life, I share with you.  Here are the top 3 things I am working on.

1. Meditating – I’ll be the first to admit, I have ADD (Self diagnosed) so this is difficult for me.  I find that it doesn’t have to be a long time to be helpful. Find a quiet space where you can get comfortable and try sitting cross legged or laying down your choice. Close your eyes and count as you inhale. For example, breath in for 1,2,3,4 and hold for a second then release the breath to the same count 1,2,3,4 slow and steady. If your mind wonders it’s all good, just keep breathing. You can start off with a short period of time 1 – 2 minutes and gradually work your way to a longer period. You will be amazed at how you feel. I am striving to do 5 mins first thing in the morning.

2. Gratitude – This is not only important for the times we are in but always. Let’s face it, life has its trying moments, but we are survivors.  Instead of just surviving in our day to day lives and complaining about the things we cannot change let’s flip that. Start a gratitude journal, just write down the things you are grateful for. It could be anything. For example, I am grateful for my health.  I am grateful for peace of mind, a roof over my head, clothes on my back, food in the fridge and for my friends. Now is a great time to reach out to the people in your lives and let them know how much they mean to you. A good old fashion note in the mail works good too. We have so much to be grateful for, show your gratitude.

3. Contribution – Now, this may sound a little weird, contribution, but I do know that sometimes I walk around feeling like it’s all about me! I know, I am not the only one.  I do believe in helping my fellow man, but I do know that I could do more. We are under this stay at home order and by staying at home we are helping our fellow man. Look, this is a time that is unknown for many of us, so reach out to the elderly in your neighborhood make sure they are okay, ask if they need anything.  We can also contribute by just listening to someone who needs to talk. There are so many ways to contribute.  How about we focus on what we are putting out into this world vs what we are getting. Just keep in mind that it’s not always about you. We need to help each other to get through these times.
