My name is Dr. LaKisha Irby. I’m a mother, an entrepreneur, an ambassador for empowerment, an ordained minister, and a lover of life.
What made you want to go in to business?
Business was not my first choice, but it was God’s choice. This path was chosen, but I’m loving every minute of it. One thing I’ve learned about business is that there are people who are anointed and appointed for business and there are those who just start businesses for the sake of starting one. For me, the journey into entrepreneurship is a Kingdom assignment. I am called and chosen to provide employment, build my community, and serve in capacities greater than myself.
You’re not the only one doing what you do. Why should people work with you?
One thing I never do in business is be concerned about what someone else is doing. When you’re focused on your assignment, you’re too busy trying to be the best version of yourself. Your assignment alone is time consuming enough. People should want to work with me because I’m going to push you to be the best you that you can be. I’m not a micromanager because I trust the God in you enough to know that you’re going to give it your all and if you’re not, that’s when I step in. I’m going to push you to finish your education and make time for you to accomplish just that. Whatever it is you want to do, I’m going to encourage you to do just that. What brings me joy is to see an employee purchase a car they didn’t have before working with me, or putting food on the table for their children, buying Christmas gifts for their children, or even purchasing a home.
What should people expect from you in the first quarter of 2020?
People should expect new business ventures, new books, and my journey into becoming an international speaker. I’m excited and looking forward to crushing my goals for 2020!
What motto do you live by?
Stop telling bad spirits good news! In your journey to success. Everyone is not going to be happy for you and you have to be ok with that. It could be your significant other, your so called friends, and even your family that isn’t in support of who you’re called to be.
What is your favorite quote?
Greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world. Know that in this scripture from 1 John 4:4, that we serve a God that’s bigger and greater than anything the enemy tries to do to you.
